Preserving, Promoting, and Uplifting Zomi Identity
Celebrating the rich musical heritage of the Zomi people
The Zomi Lengthe Competition, first launched in 2010, has grown to become the most prestigious Zomi musical event in the United States. The name "Lengthe" means "Song Competition" in the Zomi language, reflecting the event's focus on vocal performance and songwriting.
Each year, talented Zomi singers and musicians from across the country compete for recognition, prizes, and the opportunity to showcase their talents to the broader Zomi community. The competition features both traditional and contemporary categories, encouraging participants to honor our musical roots while also embracing innovation.
Beyond being a contest, Zomi Lengthe serves as a vital platform for cultural preservation and community building. It brings together Zomi people from different states, creates opportunities for intergenerational connection, and helps to ensure that our musical traditions continue to thrive in the diaspora.
The competition is judged by a panel of respected Zomi musicians and cultural figures who evaluate performances based on vocal quality, musical arrangement, lyrical content, stage presence, and cultural relevance.
Multiple categories to showcase diverse Zomi musical talents
Performances of traditional Zomi folk songs using traditional vocal techniques and arrangements. Participants must perform songs that have been part of Zomi musical heritage for generations.

Spiritual and religious songs performed in Zomi languages, celebrating the rich tradition of Zomi Christian music that has become a significant part of our cultural expression.
New songs composed by the performers that reflect Zomi themes, experiences, and musical traditions. Judged on both songwriting and performance quality.
